- Alagadi Turtle Beach (Alagadi Plajı) is two sandy coves, about 0.8 and 1.2 km long, split by a large rocky headland.
- The soft sand has no natural shade from trees.
- It is the most important nesting beach on the north coast for loggerhead and green turtles.
History of Alagadi Turtle Beach
- 1992
- A turtle conservation project begins here with the University of Exeter, SPOT and the TRNC Department of Environmental Protection, and it runs every summer.
- Late May to September
- Access is limited at night through the nesting season, and hatchling viewings are only by arrangement with the conservation project.
Visiting Alagadi Turtle Beach
Allow an afternoon. The beach lies about 8.9 km west of Esentepe. The D.10 road passes about 650 m away and a car park is mapped about 150 m away; no bus stop is mapped within about 500 m.
